I've been away from deviantArt for a couple months. As a result deviations from people I watch have piled up to over 2,000. I've spent the last 45 minutes quickly going through them and adding the best to my favourites. This is the first one that I stopped and took the time to post a comment. I just really like it. So I went through the rest of your gallery and found a bunch more that I really like as well. I wish I could explain better why I like it. It suits my mood and reminds me of simple things from my childhood. So thank you for creating it.

Thank you so much!
I'm happy you like them, and that somehow they touched you and brought back some childhood memories. :aww: It's strange, people have told me before some of my images reminded them of childhood days... I have no idea why it is so, though.

If I really had to try to explain why I said that. It has a lot to do with the texture. It reminds me of the books I grew up with that were from the 60's and 70's. I browsed through a lot of them for pictures (before the internet or cable tv) It reminds me of the pictures in those books for some reason. In those days pictures in books were the best way to find a setting for my imagination. I feel like this work does the same.

I understand, thank you for explaining it. You are right, the texture in this picture makes it look a bit like a colored pencil drawing. And in my opinion books are still a wonderful way for children to capture their imagination.
